City of Merkel Without Water After Contractor Accident

A contractor accident has led to the water being shut off for the entire City of Merkel.

According to the city, a contractor bored through a 6-inch water main on South 6th Street between Ash Street and Yucca Street.

Crews are working to complete repairs. Service will be restored once the work is finished.

After water is restored, the city will be under a boil water notice, likely through Tuesday, pending required testing and clearance.
