Midland Mass Shooting Results in Two Dead, Ten Injured! Suspect Dead!

Two people are dead and ten others were wounded today in a mass shooting event in Midland, Texas.

The deceased suspect, identified as Victor Mata Villarreal, 45, from nearby Odessa, allegedly opened fire at officers and bystanders before barricading himself in an abandoned veterinary clinic in downtown Midland.

Midland Mayor Lori Blong said during a news conference that police used robot and drone footage to confirm the shooter was dead inside the building.

It is unclear how he died.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating and no motive has been released.

Midland Memorial Hospital received nine of the victims, and four required surgical treatment after the shooting, which occurred around 8:00 a.m. CDT.

According to Fox News, as of this afternoon, five of the victims have been released.

According to law enforcement officials, Villarreal had been involved in shooting incident with cops earlier this week.
